Job description

The post holder will provide comprehensive Sexual Health and Contraception services, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in line with the responsibilities of a Specialty Doctor. The role involves managing and developing clinical sessions, maintaining and enhancing clinical competence, and ensuring that care is delivered in a sensitive, non-judgemental and confidential manner. The post holder will contribute to clinical governance through participation in audit, quality improvement and the implementation of evidence-based practice, while supporting the development and maintenance of service standards, protocols and clinical pathways. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will provide expert clinical advice, professional leadership and support to colleagues across a range of clinical settings. They will contribute to service planning and development, attend departmental meetings, and work collaboratively with managers and consultants to optimise team performance and ensure the efficient delivery of safe, effective and responsive patient care. In addition, the post holder will play an active role in education, training and workforce development. This includes maintaining professional knowledge through continuing professional development, participating in appraisal and clinical supervision processes, supporting the induction and mentoring of new staff, and contributing to teaching and educational programmes within the Sexual Health Service. The role also involves sharing clinical expertise with colleagues, providing leadership within the team, and fostering strong partnerships with primary care, social services and other relevant organisations to support integrated patient care and service improvement.
