Stress Engineer South West, UK Virtual interview Mon–Fri Certain Advantage is partnering with a key client to recruit a Stress Engineer. You’ll be responsible for delivering structural and stress analysis packages for a wide range of marine mechanical and hybrid structures. What will you be doing? • Assess structural integrity by accounting for environmental loads, material degradation, and ageing mechanisms. • Develop hand calculations, analytical models, and supporting technical evidence. • Lead end-to-end analysis packages, from initial scoping through to final delivery and presentation. • Provide practical, safety-focused recommendations, including design modifications where required. • Maintain accurate, high-quality documentation, including drawings and analysis records. • Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams to define requirements and communicate findings effectively. A couple of things you should know: • Experience in structural or stress analysis within maritime, defence, industrial, or other regulated sectors. • Strong understanding of mechanical structures, load paths, and material behaviour. • Ability to evaluate ageing or degraded structures and apply sound engineering judgement in the presence of incomplete data. • Proficient in structural hand calculations, analytical methods, and finite element analysis (FEA) tools. • Effective communicator, confident in presenting technical information to clients and stakeholders. During an interview, you may be asked about: • Your experience in Defence, Marine, or safety-critical environments. • Your familiarity with marine degradation mechanisms such as corrosion, fatigue and long-term material behaviour.
