As a Student School Nurse (SCPHN), you will undertake a specialist community public health nursing programme while gaining practical experience within a School Nursing Team. Working under the supervision of qualified School Nurses and Practice Assessors, you will develop the knowledge, skills and professional competencies required to promote the health, wellbeing and safeguarding of children, young people and their families. The role involves contributing to health assessments, health promotion activities, safeguarding processes, and partnership working with schools, families and multi-agency professionals. During the programme, you will develop the competencies required for registration as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nursing) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Please note that successful completion of the training programme does not guarantee a substantive SCPHN post; any future employment opportunities will be subject to organisational vacancies and the organisations recruitment processes at the time.
