Job description

Property Loss Adjuster – Subsidence & Structural Movement Location: Northern England (Yorkshire, Durham, Newcastle & surrounding areas – flexible based on home location) A specialist subsidence adjusting opportunity with one of the UK's leading loss adjusting practices We're partnering with a highly respected global loss adjusting business renowned for handling complex property losses, specialist subsidence claims, and technically challenging structural movement investigations across both residential and commercial portfolios. Due to continued growth within their specialist property division, they are seeking an experienced Property Loss Adjuster to join their dedicated Subsidence Team, managing a varied caseload of subsidence, heave, landslip, structural movement, and associated property damage claims. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of claims throughout the entire claim lifecycle, from initial site investigation and causation assessment through to monitoring, scope agreement, reinstatement and final settlement. You'll work closely with specialist subsidence managers, structural engineers, geotechnical consultants, surveyors, contractors, insurers and policyholders on a range of technically complex and often high-value property claims. For adjusters who enjoy the technical side of property adjusting, building pathology, structural movement and forensic investigation, this is an opportunity to further develop your expertise within a well-established specialist team. The Role: As a specialist Property Loss Adjuster, you will manage a portfolio of subsidence and structural movement claims, undertaking site inspections, policy validation, causation analysis and technical reporting. Your responsibilities will include: • Managing residential and commercial subsidence claims from first notification through to settlement. • Conducting on-site and virtual inspections to investigate property damage, assess structural movement and establish causation. • Reviewing evidence relating to subsidence, heave, landslip, drainage defects, tree influence and other factors contributing to structural movement. • Interpreting policy coverage, exclusions, endorsements and insurer philosophy to determine liability and claim progression. • Preparing detailed ABI reports, technical reports and repair recommendations. • Producing scopes of work, reinstatement schedules and tender documentation. • Working alongside structural engineers, geotechnical specialists, arboricultural consultants and contractors to progress complex claims. • Reviewing monitoring data, crack progression, DEMEC readings and engineering reports to support claim strategy. • Making recommendations regarding further investigations, monitoring programmes, temporary works and permanent remedial solutions. • Managing stakeholder expectations and maintaining excellent communication with policyholders, insurers, brokers, contractors and technical experts throughout the claim journey. • Ensuring claims are handled within authority limits, service standards and agreed SLAs. • Supporting colleagues with technical guidance on subsidence, structural movement and complex property claims. Why Adjusters Are Interested: In a market where many property adjusting roles focus heavily on volume and KPI-driven caseloads, this position offers something different. • Specialist subsidence and structural movement caseloads. • Exposure to technically complex property claims and forensic investigation work. • Genuine end-to-end ownership of claims. • Strong support from dedicated Subsidence Regional Managers and technical specialists. • Close collaboration with engineers, surveyors and subsidence experts. • Manageable caseloads focused on quality adjusting rather than volume handling. • Home-based working with flexibility and autonomy. • Continued technical development within property adjusting, subsidence and structural movement. • Clear opportunities to strengthen expertise in building pathology, causation analysis, policy interpretation and complex property claims. • The backing of a respected global loss adjusting practice with a strong reputation across the UK market. Ideal Background: We would be particularly interested in speaking with: • Property Loss Adjusters • Subsidence Loss Adjusters • Domestic Property Adjusters • Commercial Property Adjusters • Technical Claims Handlers with subsidence experience • Building Surveyors working within insurance claims • Adjusters with experience of structural movement, building defects, reinstatement and property damage investigations Experience handling subsidence, structural movement, building pathology, domestic property claims, commercial property claims, reinstatement projects or complex property losses would be highly advantageous.
