Job description

Salary: up to £250k base Summary Fantastic opportunity for a hands-on Systems Engineer to join an industry-leading global market maker, using innovative and cutting-edge technology. Forget the stuffy world of finance you thought you knew; developers here are tech-driven and truly world-class. As a part of the server virtualization team evolving the compute platform for the business, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing the virtualization strategy, including optimizing resource utilization and ensuring robust disaster recovery & business continuity. Working directly with platform users to understand requirements, you will translate these into effective solutions that you then build and configure. Self-documenting, version-controlled code and configurations are prioritized at his firm. The successful candidate will have experience working in high-performance environments, with exposure to Kubernetes and Virtualization platforms at enterprises. Requirements • Strong programming skills in at least one language, ideally Python or Go • Keen drive to identify and eliminate toil • Knowledge of and curiosity about computer networks, including routing and firewall • Solid knowledge of Linux operating systems • Minimum bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or related discipline) Desirable • Proficiency in infrastructure provisioning/management tools (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, Packer) • Experience with cloud platforms, such as Google Cloud and Azure • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking, architecture, and core technologies (such as DNS, DHCP, HTTP, Routing, VPN) • Ability to manage and implement large-scale infrastructure projects NB: Please don't apply if you're a fresh graduate.
