Teacher of Design Technology

Your new company Hays Education are working in partnership with a thriving secondary school in East London to recruit an enthusiastic and skilled Teacher of Design Technology for a September 2026 start. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful and well-resourced Design Technology department that is dedicated to fostering creativity, innovation and practical problem-solving skills. The school is committed to providing students with a broad and engaging curriculum that equips them with the knowledge and technical skills needed for future study and employment. The successful candidate will teach Design Technology across KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to teach a specialist area at KS5 for suitably experienced applicants. Your new role • Teach Design Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4 • Deliver engaging and practical lessons that inspire creativity and innovation • Plan, prepare and assess work in line with departmental and school policies • Support students in developing design, manufacturing and evaluation skills • Prepare students for GCSE examinations and coursework requirements • Maintain a safe and effective workshop environment • Contribute to departmental enrichment opportunities and wider school activities What you'll need to succeed • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent • Experience teaching Design Technology within a UK secondary school setting • Ability to teach across one or more DT specialisms, including Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, Graphics or Food Technology • Strong subject knowledge and practical workshop skills • Excellent classroom management and communication skills • Passion for developing students' creativity and practical abilities • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing What you'll get in return • Competitive salary in line with Inner London pay scales • Access to high-quality CPD and career progression opportunities • Supportive leadership team and collaborative department • Well-equipped workshops and excellent teaching resources • Dedicated support from your Hays Education consultant throughout the recruitment process About Hays Education Hays Education is a market-leading recruitment agency and trusted partner to schools across London.
