Teaching Assistant (SEND Support) Hours: Up to 27.5 hours per week (term-time only) Salary: Grade 4 – £25,583–£25,989 pro rata Reporting to: SENDCo About the Role We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Inclusion team. This role is key in helping students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to develop independence, confidence, and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide targeted support, ensuring students can fully access the curriculum and make meaningful progress both academically and socially. Key Responsibilities Support for Students • Identify and support students with SEND who are not making expected progress • Encourage independent learning using a range of tailored strategies • Deliver targeted support to individuals or small groups • Ensure students understand lesson content and homework tasks • Act as a key worker for a student with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) • Support students with behavioural needs, helping remove barriers to learning • Supervise students during educational visits and activities Support for Teachers • Provide in-class support as directed by teaching staff • Work with small groups or individuals outside of lessons where required • Monitor and report on student progress and engagement • Support adaptation of classroom materials to meet individual needs • Liaise with teachers and Inclusion team members to ensure consistent support Support for the School • Contribute to student progress reviews, including EHCP reviews • Attend relevant training and development opportunities • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times • Provide administrative support where required • Support the induction of new Teaching Assistants Support for the Curriculum • Assist with delivering small group interventions • Adapt learning resources to support accessibility • Work with curriculum teams to understand and support learning objectives About You The ideal candidate will: • Have experience supporting young people, particularly those with SEND (desirable) • Be patient, adaptable, and calm under pressure • Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills • Be committed to inclusive education and student wellbeing • Be able to motivate and inspire students to achieve independence Why Join Us? • A supportive and collaborative working environment • Opportunities for ongoing professional development • A role where you can make a meaningful impact on students’ lives
