Trainee Technical Textiles Assistant - grad opportunity
Are you a textile graduate looking for an exciting knitting opportunity?
This role sits within an innovative technical textiles team focused on developing and manufacturing specialist knit-based products. You will help run a modern knitting facility, working on the development of unique fabrics and high-tech components.
Key Responsibilities - full training provided
• Set up, operate, and maintain industrial knitting and sewing machinery
• Learn and use specialist software to program complex 2D and 3D knit patterns
• Cut, join, and finish technical fabrics using industrial sewing techniques
• Assist with knitting trials and production runs for innovative new materials
• Monitor production to ensure all finished components meet strict quality standards
Requirements Essential
• A degree or equivalent qualification in textiles, or relevant industrial experience
• Practical sewing skills, including experience with overlock stitching
• A strong willingness to learn advanced technical knitting and programming skills
• Good communication skills and a hands-on, troubleshooting mindset
• Physical ability to stand for periods during machine setup and lift materials up to 10 kg
• Ability to obtain standard UK security clearance
Desirable
• Familiarity with industrial knitting technology
• Basic experience with computerised knit programming
• An interest in working with unconventional materials, such as metal yarns or composite components
