Transport Administrator (Bookings) Location: South West Essex Salary: £25,000 – £27,000 per annum Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:30 An opportunity has arisen for a Transport Administrator to join a busy and fast-paced transport and logistics environment based in South West Essex. The role supports daily transport operations, ensuring the smooth coordination of delivery bookings, accurate documentation, and effective communication between internal teams, customers, and drivers. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining service levels, managing delivery schedules, and supporting efficient fleet utilisation in line with operational requirements. Main Purpose of the RoleTo provide administrative support to the transport function, ensuring delivery requirements are accurately processed, coordinated, and communicated, while maintaining compliance with operational procedures and supporting overall service efficiency. Key Responsibilities • Carry out administrative and clerical duties supporting daily transport operations • Act as a key point of contact between import operations and planning teams to coordinate delivery requirements • Contact customers to arrange, confirm, and manage delivery bookings • Ensure delivery appointments are aligned with fleet planning and route optimisation requirements • Process, prepare, and verify transport and delivery documentation accurately • Manage delivery discrepancies, exceptions, and overages, ensuring timely resolution • Monitor delivery performance and proactively manage delays to minimise disruption • Liaise with customers, drivers, warehouse teams, and operational departments to ensure smooth freight movement • Identify and resolve transport issues, escalating where necessary to maintain service levels Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills • Previous experience in transport administration or logistics is desirable • Excellent attention to detail, particularly when processing bookings and documentation • Strong communication skills with confidence liaising with customers and internal teams • Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment • Competent in Microsoft Office applications • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to transport management systems • Strong time management and prioritisation skills Benefits • Competitive salary of £25,000 – £27,000 • Full-time permanent position within a busy transport environment • Opportunity to develop experience within logistics and transport operations • Supportive team environment within an established organisation This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build or further develop their career within transport administration and logistics coordination.
