Transport & Logistics Manager Salary up to 45,000 DOE Location: Manchester An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport & Logistics Manager to join a growing organisation, taking ownership of end-to-end logistics operations and driving operational excellence across transport, planning and logistics coordination. This is a leadership role for an ambitious logistics professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering outstanding service, improving efficiency and leading high-performing teams. The Role Reporting to the Head of Service Excellence, you will oversee the full logistics function, ensuring transport operations are delivered safely, efficiently and compliantly while maintaining exceptional service standards. You will lead transport operations, planning and logistics coordination teams, optimising resources, improving performance and driving continuous improvement across the business. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management • Lead and develop transport operations, planning and logistics coordination teams • Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, engagement and continuous improvement • Provide leadership, coaching and support to managers and operational teams Logistics Operations • Oversee the end-to-end logistics operation from planning through to delivery • Ensure seamless collaboration between warehouse, planning and transport functions • Drive On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery performance • Resolve operational issues and ensure effective communication across teams and drivers Planning & Resource Optimisation • Oversee transport planning to maximise fleet utilisation and operational efficiency • Manage route planning, driver allocation and scheduling • Support forecasting, peak planning and resource modelling • Ensure planning systems and operational data remain accurate and effective Transport & Fleet Management • Lead the safe and efficient execution of transport operations • Monitor vehicle utilisation, turnaround times and delivery performance • Manage fleet availability, defects and compliance requirements • Drive efficiencies through improved routing and fleet optimisation Compliance & Governance • Ensure full compliance with UK transport legislation, Operator Licence requirements, EU Tachograph regulations and Working Time Directive legislation • Maintain audit-ready records and documentation • Monitor driver compliance and manage infringements where necessary • Promote a strong safety-first culture across the operation Logistics Coordination • Oversee logistics administration and operational support • Ensure efficient driver communication and issue resolution • Manage delivery queries, incident reporting and escalation processes • Maintain accurate documentation and effective use of transport management systems Performance & Continuous Improvement • Monitor and report on key logistics KPIs, including: • OTIF performance • Vehicle utilisation • Delivery accuracy • Cost per delivery • Fleet efficiency • Analyse operational performance and identify improvement opportunities • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service, productivity and cost efficiency • Standardise best practice across logistics operations Cost & Stakeholder Management • Manage transport budgets and identify opportunities to reduce operational costs • Minimise third-party transport expenditure through improved fleet utilisation • Work closely with warehouse, customer service and compliance teams to deliver excellent customer outcomes • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners About You The successful candidate will have: • Proven experience managing transport operations, logistics planning and operational coordination • Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements • Experience leading multi-functional logistics teams • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills • Strong analytical skills with experience using operational data to drive performance improvements • Experience working with Transport Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and logistics reporting tools • A proactive and commercially focused approach with excellent problem-solving abilities What's on Offer? • Salary up to 45,000 DOE • The opportunity to lead a key operational function within a growing business • A varied leadership role with significant responsibility and autonomy • The chance to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence • Long-term career development opportunities within a forward-thinking organisation If you're an experienced logistics leader looking for your next challenge and want to make a real impact within a dynamic and fast-paced business, we'd love to hear from you.
