Hours: 06.30 to 16.00 Monday to Friday, plus one in three Saturday mornings 07.00 to 11.00

Reporting to the Depot Operations Manager, you will play a key role in delivering safe, efficient and reliable waste collection services at Bishops Cleeve Depot. Working alongside the wider depot team, you will help drive operational excellence by supporting day-to-day activities, overseeing designated areas of responsibility and providing effective supervision and support to colleagues.
What will you do
• Support and motivate depot teams to deliver high performance, engagement, and excellent service standards.
• Assist with employee development, performance reviews, training, inductions, and probation management.
• Monitor attendance, performance, and conduct, taking appropriate action in line with company policies.
• Lead regular team briefings and toolbox talks to encourage communication, feedback, and continuous improvement.
• Administer driver bonus schemes fairly and accurately in line with company procedures.
• Ensure driver hours are managed and recorded in full compliance with legal requirements.
• Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring accidents, incidents, and training needs are identified, reported, and addressed promptly.
• Work closely with Fleet and Workshop teams to maintain a safe, compliant, and roadworthy vehicle fleet.
• Conduct end-of-shift debriefs with drivers and crews to review performance and resolve operational issues.
• Maintain depot readiness for internal audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance checks, including FORS standards and Operator Licence requirements.
• Ensure full compliance with all company policies, employment procedures, and health and safety regulations.
• Champion colleague wellbeing and mental health, fostering an inclusive, supportive workplace culture and promoting access to wellbeing resources.
• Support wider business objectives through project work and additional duties as required.

About You
• A valid Transport Manager CPC qualification (essential), supported by GCSEs, NVQ/GNVQ qualifications, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience within waste management, logistics, transport, or a similar operational environment, with a proven ability to lead teams and achieve performance targets.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills, alongside a strong customer-focused mindset.
• Strong IT, numerical, and analytical abilities, including experience with Microsoft Office applications and operational management systems.
• A solid understanding of relevant legislation, including health and safety requirements, drivers' hours regulations, and operator licensing compliance.
• A full UK driving licence (essential); LGV Class 2 (Category C) qualification would be advantageous.
• Good geographical knowledge of the local operational area, or the ability to rapidly develop this understanding.
