Job description

Our client, a freight forwarder is looking for a Senior Transport Planner to join their office in Stanford-Le-Hope. Salary is negotiable depending on experience Job Purpose The Transport Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating the daily movement of vehicles, drivers, and deliveries to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective transport operations. The role focuses on maximising vehicle utilisation, meeting customer service requirements, ensuring legal compliance, and supporting continuous operational improvement. Key Responsibilities • Plan and optimise daily transport routes to maximise efficiency while meeting customer delivery requirements. • Allocate vehicles, drivers, and resources based on operational demands. • Monitor transport operations in real time and respond to delays, breakdowns, or service disruptions. • Communicate schedules and route changes to drivers and relevant stakeholders. • Ensure compliance with all transport legislation, including drivers' hours, Working Time Regulations, and vehicle compliance requirements. • Liaise with warehouse, customer service, and operations teams to coordinate deliveries and collections. • Monitor vehicle utilisation and identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce costs. • Maintain accurate transport records, delivery schedules, and planning documentation. • Support the investigation and resolution of delivery issues, customer complaints, and transport incidents. • Produce transport reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) relating to fleet performance, service levels, and operational efficiency. • Work closely with external carriers and subcontractors where required. • Ensure all transport activities comply with company policies relating to health and safety, environmental standards, and quality management. • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance transport performance.
