Job description

The brand new, state-of-the-art, Intensive Care unit provides 12 beds providing level 2 and level 3 care. With over 600 admissions a year, one third of which are ventilated, there is a high level of clinical challenge and an emphasis on multidisciplinary team working. We admit a wide range of patients from the ED and the wards with few elective admissions. The unit is equipped with new ventilators, monitors and haemofilters, and we are in the final stages of the digital integration required to become fully paperless. The severity score of our patients is similar to those in comparable units:our Standardised Mortality Rate has been below expected for several consecutive years and our infection control targets are in line with national trends. We are heavily involved in research and the post holder will be strongly encourage to be involved in the current studies and projects being run by the department. We have an excellent training record and provide excellent educational support to our trainees.
