Job description

• To provide senior medical secretarial service directly to named Consultants. • To take a lead role in managing the waiting list of a group of consultants. This will involve cross covering and supporting other specialities when required to support the team and services. • Monitor the waiting list and work list daily to ensure Government Access Targets are not breached. • To co-ordinate admission and associated pre-operative assessment clinics. • To ensure RTT (18 week pathway) status is recorded accurately and is up to date. • To collate information for clinical audits if required. • Arranging appointments as required. • To be responsible for and collation of investigation results. • To deal with day to day incoming mail, assigning priority and/or taking any necessary action without reference to Consultant staff if necessary and within remit. • Acting as first point of contact for all forms of communication for the consultant and their team • Audio typing of clinical and non-clinical correspondence ensuring completion within national guidelines. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately. If successful this vacancy will require a Standard DBS check at a cost of £26.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary. In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
