Warehouse Operative
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
Location: Thatcham
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: Monday – Friday (Shift Work) - 1st week: 6am – 2pm - 2nd week 2pm – 10pm - 3rd week 10pm – 6am
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Operative to join a busy and growing operation based in Thatcham. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced warehouse environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day warehouse function, ensuring goods are received, stored, picked, packed, and dispatched efficiently. Previous forklift experience would be highly beneficial but is not essential.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Receiving, unloading, and checking incoming deliveries.
• Picking, packing, and preparing orders for dispatch.
• Loading and unloading vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Maintaining accurate stock levels and reporting discrepancies.
• Ensuring goods are stored correctly within the warehouse.
• Keeping the warehouse clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards.
• Assisting with stock counts and inventory management.
• Operating warehouse equipment safely and responsibly.
• Supporting the wider team to ensure operational targets are met.
• Using a forklift truck when required (if qualified).
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Previous experience working within a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to work.
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling duties.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures within a warehouse setting.
• Reliable, punctual, and hardworking attitude.
Desirable Skills
• Forklift Truck (Counterbalance) experience or licence.
• Previous experience using warehouse management systems (WMS).
• Experience with stock control and inventory management.
