Works Manager Exeter Are you an experienced construction professional looking for your next challenge? RGB Recruitment is working with a well-established contractor to recruit a Works Manager to oversee a growing portfolio of small works projects across the region, typically valued between a couple hundred thousand to £2 million. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected business where you'll have the autonomy to manage projects from pre-construction through to completion, build strong client relationships, and play a key role in the continued growth of the division. If you're a proactive leader with a passion for delivering high-quality projects safely, on time and within budget, we'd love to hear from you. Key Responsibilities • Lead the delivery of multiple small works projects from inception through to completion. • Support business development and contribute to the continued growth of the division. • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors. • Oversee project programmes, budgets, procurement and resource planning. • Monitor project progress, manage risks and provide regular updates to senior management and clients. • Ensure all contractual obligations are met and projects are delivered in line with programme and budget. • Manage tendering and pre-construction activities where required. • Lead, motivate and develop project teams, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance. • Recruit, train and mentor staff to encourage continued professional development. • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company policies and industry standards. • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement best practices across the business. • Resolve project and contractual issues in a professional and timely manner. Skills & Experience • Proven experience in a Works Manager, Contracts Manager or similar management role within the construction industry. • Experience delivering construction projects valued up to £2 million. • Strong leadership, organisational and decision-making skills. • Excellent commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and financial performance. • Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and solve problems effectively. • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. • Relevant construction qualifications, including SMSTS, First Aid at Work and a CSCS Card. • Full UK driving licence.
