Workshop Technician

Maintenance Technician Location: Rochford (Must be able to drive due to site location) Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm Shifts: 8 hours per day Breaks: 2 x 30-minute breaks Pay Rate: • £16.30 per hour (basic) • £24.45 per hour (overtime, x1.5) Job PurposeWe are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to carry out maintenance and repair work on port-based equipment, including terminal tractors and trailers. The role is focused on ensuring all machinery is safe, fully functional, and compliant with health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities • Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on terminal tractors and trailers • Carry out welding and fabrication tasks as required • Fit, replace, and maintain wheels, tyres, and associated components • Manage spare parts stock, including ordering and inventory control • Maintain clean, organised, and safe working environments • Adhere strictly to all health and safety procedures • Conduct routine inspections to identify faults and prevent breakdowns • Accurately complete maintenance records and documentation • Support general maintenance duties across the site as required Skills & Experience Required • Proven experience in vehicle or plant maintenance (ideally within an industrial setting) • Strong welding and fabrication skills • Good mechanical knowledge of trailers, tractors, or heavy vehicles • Experience with stock control or inventory systems • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Requirements • Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety • Good problem-solving ability • Flexible approach to working hours when required • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential due to location) Desirable • Relevant mechanical or engineering qualifications • Experience in logistics, manufacturing, or heavy industry environments Health & Safety • Comply with all health and safety policies at all times • Wear appropriate PPE when required • Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly Adecco acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
