Are you a highly organised finance professional looking for a varied role within a growing business? We are seeking a Finance Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of a busy SME organisation. Reporting to the MD, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting cashflow reporting, ensuring compliance with financial processes, and delivering excellent service to both internal stakeholders and customers. Duties & Responsibilities
• Process sales and purchase ledger invoices, journals and financial transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Complete PDQ reconciliations and payment processing for UK and international sales, resolving discrepancies where required.
• Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports, including cashflow and income/expenditure forecasting.
• Support banking reconciliations, credit control, customer invoice queries and credit note administration.
• Assist with payroll administration and UK/European VAT compliance, including liaison with HMRC.
• Support audits, stocktakes and the preparation of financial documentation for compliance purposes.
• Maintain financial records, Sage 200 data and Excel-based reporting while helping to strengthen internal financial controls.
• Monitor outstanding debts, investigate financial variances and provide additional finance support as required.
Education & Skills Required
• Previous experience in a finance or accounts support role.
• Knowledge of sales ledger, purchase ledger, reconciliations and general accounting processes.
• Experience using financial systems, (ideally Sage), together with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Good understanding of payroll, VAT and financial compliance processes.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Confident communicator with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively as part of a team.
• Own transport is essential due to rural office location.
