Job description
Accounts & Audit Manager
Location: Harrow (with some hybrid flexibility)
Are you a qualified accountant who enjoys the variety that comes with general practice?
We're working with a long-established, independent accountancy firm looking to appoint an Accounts & Audit Manager to join their close-knit team. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-rounded practice professional who is equally comfortable leading audit assignments, preparing accounts and supporting clients across a broad range of accounting and tax matters.
Working directly alongside the firm's owner, the successful Accounts & Audit Manager will play a key role in servicing a loyal portfolio of owner-managed businesses. This is a hands-on position offering genuine autonomy, exposure to all aspects of practice, and a clear opportunity to become an integral part of the firm's future.
What you'll be doing
• Managing and delivering financial audit assignments from planning through to completion.
• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for owner-managed limited companies.
• Completing corporation tax returns and supporting compliance work.
• Preparing personal tax returns.
• Assisting with VAT returns and advising clients on day-to-day accounting matters.
• Supporting payroll processes where required.
• Acting as a trusted point of contact for clients, building strong long-term relationships.
• Working closely with the firm's owner on the continued development of the practice.
We're looking for someone who has
• ACA or ACCA qualification.
• Strong UK practice experience with a solid audit background.
• Experience preparing accounts, audit work and personal tax returns.
• A broad understanding of general practice, including corporation tax, VAT and compliance.
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to manage client relationships.
• A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to work within a small, collaborative team.
What's on offer
• Salary depending on experience.
• Limited hybrid working following a successful settling-in period.
• A varied role covering the full spectrum of general practice work.
• Direct access to decision-makers with the opportunity to make a real impact.
• Friendly, supportive working environment within a well-established independent firm.
• Long-term career prospects for someone looking to grow with the business.
This is an ideal opportunity for an Accounts & Audit Manager who enjoys working across accounts, audit and tax, values client relationships and is looking to join a respected independent practice where their contribution will genuinely make a difference.
