Accounting Manager

£40,000 - £45,000 per annum + Benefits

Adele Carr Recruitment has partnered with a well-established international manufacturing and distribution business to recruit an experienced Accounting Manager to join their growing UK finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional looking for a varied role with real responsibility. You'll lead a small finance team while taking ownership of the day-to-day finance function, supporting the wider business with accurate financial reporting, cashflow management and commercial insight.
Working closely with senior leadership, you'll play a key role in driving continuous improvement, supporting operational managers and ensuring the finance function runs efficiently.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
• Preparing monthly management accounts and leading the month-end close process
• Managing accruals, prepayments, journals and balance sheet reconciliations
• Producing WIP reporting, KPI reports and financial analysis
• Preparing and monitoring daily and weekly cashflow forecasts
• Managing banking activities and overseeing supplier payments
• Supervising the sales ledger, purchase ledger and credit control functions
• Preparing VAT returns and supporting audit, budgeting and forecasting activities
• Overseeing weekly and monthly payroll processes
• Leading, coaching and developing a small finance team
• Partnering with operational managers to provide financial support and commercial insight
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies across the finance function
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or be a finalist actively studying)
• Previous experience as an Accounting Manager, Senior Management Accountant or similar
• Experience managing or supervising a small finance team
• Strong month-end and management accounting experience
• Knowledge of accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations and cashflow forecasting
• A good understanding of VAT and financial controls
• Strong Excel skills and excellent communication abilities
Desirable experience:
• Manufacturing or distribution sector experience
• Budgeting and forecasting
• External audit support
• Sage 50
• Credit insurance or invoice discounting
