The Role: A new solution for the validation and transformation of policyholder data used in actuarial modelling and assumption setting is being built. This fixed term role will own defining and documenting simplified and streamlined actuarial requirements for this solution. This role will also ensure that appropriate testing of the new data solution is done to demonstrate that these requirements are met and advise on and review the adequacy of controls in the new process. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality actuarial insight while taking ownership of significant components of actuarial work. As a Manager or Expert, the role combines strong technical capability with accountability for delivery, ensuring outputs are robust, well-governed, and aligned to business objectives. The role will provide guidance to others, and influence decision-making through clear, reliable insight. It operates with a high degree of autonomy, balancing technical delivery with leadership and subject-matter expertise, and contributes to the continuous development of actuarial capability within the wider team. Main Responsibilities: • Lead the delivery of the specification of data transformation and validation logic to ensure that the data used in actuarial modelling, experience analysis and assumption setting is materially correct and fit for purpose.. • Use actuarial knowledge and judgement to propose simplifications to data processing or to propose accepting limitations in data based on materiality. • Provide technical oversight and review of data processing outputs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with the transformation and model specifications. • Advise on the controls that should be applied to the data processing and review the adequacy of the controls implemented. • Translate complex actuarial findings into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders. • Take accountability for delivery outcomes, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met. • Support and guide colleagues, sharing knowledge to build capability across the team. • Contribute to process improvements, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness of actuarial tools and approaches. • Engage with stakeholders to align actuarial work with broader business priorities. • Ensure all work in the team is documented to a high standard. Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience: • Strong actuarial and analytical capability with the ability to manage complex workstreams. • Experience working with policyholder data for reporting, experience analysis and/or assumption setting in UK Life Insurance. • Deep understanding of actuarial principles and their application in modelling life and pensions products, including with profits. • Ability to review, challenge, and enhance technical outputs with a high degree of accuracy. • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders. • Capability to lead delivery. • Collaborative approach with a focus on supporting the team and organisational goals. • Continuous improvement and innovation mindset Essential Skills: • Actuarial modelling and data analysis • Experience in Life actuarial reserving, experience analysis and/or assumption setting • Knowledge of UK pensions and life insurance industry. • Strategic and critical thinking • Stakeholder engagement and influencing • Quality assurance, controls and governance Desirable Skills • Actuarial valuation of annuities • With profits • Data management • Experience with data tools such as SQL, Python and Databricks Recruiter: Hollie Doran Close Date: 3rd August 2026 Location: Kildean, Edinburgh, Reading What we offer: We're dedicated to supporting your wellbeing and helping you thrive, both at work and beyond.
