Adult Social Care Solicitor • Job Type: Part-time (3 full days per week, 22.2 hours - open to discussion on hours) • Location: Rotherham (Remote) • Salary: £33.71 per hour PAYE • Contract: Temporary We are seeking an Adult Social Care Solicitor to join our Adult Care Law Team. This role involves providing comprehensive legal advice, guidance, and representation on all matters related to Adult Care Law. The successful candidate will handle cases from inception through to conclusion, including court representation and advising the Council during various meetings. Day-to-day of the role: • Work within the Adult Care Law Team to provide legal services in areas including Adult Care and related matters. • Manage a personal caseload of Adult Care Law matters, taking client instructions, advising throughout the case, and providing advocacy. • Represent the Council in court at inquiries, inquests, and tribunals, including full preparation and advocacy. • Assess and advise on evidential matters to prevent unnecessary litigation. • Attend and possibly represent the Head of Legal/Assistant Director of Legal Services at Council’s Boards and Panels, acting as Legal Adviser, advising both Members and Officers. • Participate in providing training for Members and Officers on relevant legal matters. • Develop and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders and engage in multi-agency working. • Deputise for the Senior Solicitor in the Adult Care Law Team as required. • Ensure compliance with the Solicitors Regulatory Authority/Bar Council/Chartered Institute of Legal Executives Code of Professional Conduct. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with current practising certificate. • Proven experience in Adult Care Law. • Strong advocacy skills and experience in court representation. • Ability to handle complex legal issues and provide clear, practical advice. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of advising and training a range of audiences. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
