Job Title: Animal Care Lecturer Salary: Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience and qualifications) Start Date: Ongoing opportunities available About the Role We are currently recruiting for experienced and enthusiastic Animal Care Lecturers to join a range of well-established Further Education providers. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact on learners pursuing careers within the animal care and land-based sectors. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and effective lessons, supporting students in developing their knowledge of animal welfare, husbandry, behaviour, and industry practices while helping them achieve their academic and professional goals. Key Responsibilities • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Animal Care lessons. • Teach Animal Care programmes to learners across a range of levels and abilities. • Assess, monitor, and track student progress. • Provide constructive feedback and academic support to learners. • Maintain accurate records in line with college requirements. • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment. • Support learners in developing their understanding of animal welfare, health, handling, behaviour, and husbandry practices. • Contribute to learner achievement, retention, and progression. Requirements • Relevant degree or qualification in Animal Care, Animal Management, Zoology, Veterinary Nursing, Animal Science, or a related subject. • Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, or equivalent). • Experience teaching Animal Care within Further Education, Higher Education, Secondary Education, or Adult Learning environments. • Strong classroom management and communication skills. • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one. • Ability to engage and motivate learners of varying abilities. • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for animal education and welfare. • Industry experience within an animal care, animal management, veterinary, or zoological setting is desirable.
