We are currently seeking an experienced Asphalt Plant Manager to take overall responsibility for the safety and operational performance of our asphalt plant in Carlisle.
Key Responsibilities
• Line management of on-site Plant Supervisors, providing leadership, support, and clear direction
• Full responsibility for budgets and P&L management, including cost control and financial performance
• Month-end P&L reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Experience running projects, including planning, delivery, and performance monitoring
• Involvement in capital expenditure applications, justification, and delivery of approved projects
• Ensure all operations are run in line with HSEQ policies and guidance
• Strong focus on health, safety, and environmental compliance, promoting a positive safety culture
• Conduct regular 1-to-1 meetings, performance reviews, and development discussions
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to supervisory and operational teams
• Ensure production targets, quality standards, and customer requirements are consistently met
• Coordinate maintenance planning to ensure plant reliability and uptime
• Ensure adequate resourcing, shift cover, and operational continuity across both sites
• Liaise with senior management, internal stakeholders, and external contractors
• Drive continuous improvement, efficiency gains, and best practice across both operations
• Visually seen onsite, VFL's and interaction.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
• Previous experience operating an asphalt batching plant or working within a quarry/heavy industrial environment
• Good understanding of asphalt mix designs, material properties and quality control standards
• Ability to use computerised batching control systems and interpret production specifications. Basic mechanical knowledge with strong problem-solving skills
• Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements
• Reliable, detail-oriented and able to work independently or as part of a team.
