About us:
Established in 1876, Blinkhorns serves some 3500 individuals and owner managed businesses. Our client base is predominantly drawn from the media and entertainment sectors, in particular film, television and theatre. We also provide services to clients involved in other areas such as the motorsport, property investment, retail, charity and service sectors.
What you can expect:
You will interact with a wide range of staff daily from Bookkeepers to the Senior Partners, meaning you will gain valuable insight into a broad range of areas that will allow you to develop a useful understanding of how the world of accountancy and business operates.
Whilst we are predominantly a Media and Entertainment firm, experience in this area is not a pre-requisite, although an interest or awareness is useful. We would, however, expect you to have some experience in accounting or finance. We also have a wide range of other clients from property investors to technology companies so you will gain an insight into how individuals and limited companies in other industries operate.
Role:
Duties include:
• Oversee daily accounting tasks,
• Review of FRS 105, FRS 102 1A and FRS 102 client financial statements and corporation tax returns
• Responsibility for a portfolio of monthly/quarterly VAT returns
• Responsibility for a portfolio of Making Tax Digital returns
• Liaising directly with clients on routine queries
• Preparation and review of personal tax returns
• Review of sole trader annual accounts
• Carry out technical research for managers
• Mentoring and supervising junior staff, assist in managing the team, identifying training needs.
• Take part in junior staff reviews alongside a manager.
• Assist manager with portfolio of clients, become involved in the workflow management of the team
• Assist with overseas tax matters
• Commercial awareness of budgets, work-in-progress and the overall billing process
Essential Skills and Experience
• ACA or ACCA qualified and experience as an Accounts Senior.
• 1-2 years post qualified experience
• Strong technical ability
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills
• Good team player able to interact at all levels of organisation
• Ability to develop strong working relationships with clients
• The ability to work under minimal supervision is essential
