Assistant Plant Manager
Location: Surrey
Hours: 40 per week, alternate weekends
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
We're on the lookout for an Assistant Plant Manager to join one of the UK's leading garden retailers.
This is a hands-on leadership role, supporting the Plant Manager in the day to day running of a busy outdoor plant department while leading and developing a team of 5-8 colleagues.
You'll be responsible for maintaining high horticultural and retail standards, coaching your team and helping drive department performance.
This is a great chance for either an assistant-level horticulturalist to take a step up or for an experienced supervisor to join a business that values and offers strong progression prospects and training with RHS and Management qualifications.
The Role
• Support the day to day running of the outdoor plant department.
• Lead, coach and motivate a team of 5 to 8.
• Maintain excellent plant quality, merchandising and retail standards.
• Mentor team members and share your horticultural knowledge.
• Drive sales through exceptional customer service and commercial awareness.
• Work closely with the Plant Manager to deliver department objectives.
About You
• Strong horticultural knowledge and experience is essential.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience within a garden centre or plant department is ideal.
• A passion for plants and delivering outstanding customer service.
• Commercially minded with the ability to coach and develop a team.
• Garden centre retail experience is preferred, although strong horticultural candidates with leadership experience will be considered.
