Assistant SENCo - Mainstream School Role with two days teaching responsibilty Due to start in September 2026 Interviewing now Are you an ECT teacher with a passion for special needs looking for an exciting opportunity within a supportive and vibrant school community? If so, we would love to hear from you! We are working with a welcoming primary school in Brent seeking to appoint an Assistant SENCo from September 2026. This role involves teaching a high needs year 3 class for 2 days of the week, providing targeted interventions and personalised support to meet individual learning needs and assisting the SENCo on the remaining days. Responsibilities of this Assistant SENCo role: • Deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching to small groups of pupils with Special Educational Needs, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development. • Supporting School SENCo • Stay up to date with the latest SEN research, legislation, and best practice through training, workshops, and professional reading, implementing strategies across the school. • Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom culture, modelling excellent practice and supporting colleagues with SEN provision. • Monitor pupil progress closely, using assessment data to identify needs, track progress, and plan personalised interventions that close learning gaps. • Collaborate with class teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure individual pupils receive consistent and effective support. The Ideal Candidate for this Assistant SENCo role will: • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) • Have experience teaching or supporting pupils with SEN across the primary phase (EYFS, KS1, and/or KS2) • Be committed to delivering engaging, inclusive, and well-structured lessons for small, mixed-age groups • Demonstrate excellent classroom and behaviour management skills • Be a reflective, proactive team player with a positive attitude towards continuous improvement Interested?
