Job description

This role provides support to the Haematology / Transfusion departments and requires skills and knowledge in order to: • Be responsible for the preparation of reagents and complex automatedanalysers for treatment, investigations or procedures as directed by departmental procedures under guidance of an HCPC registered BMS. • Receive large volumes of samples, check and examine electronic and paper requests, accurately select test profiles according to specimen type, clinical details and collection conditions and transfer requests on to laboratory information system. • To perform a range of simple tests, assays and operate complex automated instruments, if appropriate, following standard operational procedures and validate according to departmental policy, with minimal guidance. • Separate and prepare specimens for referral by post to external laboratories.
