Automation Flow Controller - Milton Keynes

WE ARE LOOKING FOR AFC - AUTOMATION FLOW CONTROLLERS TO WORK ON MORNING SHIFT 6AM-2PM Inside of the John Lewis Distribution Centre at Magna Park 1 & 2, there are miles and miles of conveyors, called the Automation, on which containers, called totes and cartons, travel or flow. At any point during their journey there's a possibility for the container totes to become stuck, or crash. It is the role of the AFC: Automation Flow Controller to clear those crashes, report the issues and ensure a continuous flow of containers. Ideal qualities of an AFC • Physicality: You should be prepared to climb ladders, go up and down lots of stairs and walk between 14 000 and 32 000 steps in a day • Mentality: You must be able to manage your own frustration and deal with a fair amount of pressure • Technicality: Develop a working understanding of how the Automation functions, what the parts are called and how to report problems to control room • Communication: As an AFC, you need be be able to clearly communicate over the radio • Autonomy: An ability to self govern. AFC's don't always have direct oversight, you need to be able to put yourself to task • Awareness: Being able to spread your perception over a large area, spot small changes in flow and be aware of potential risks • A sense of urgency: The role of AFC is critical to the productivity of the operation.
