Behaviour Support Assistant (Full-Time) - Primary School, St Helens (WA9)A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the WA9 area of St Helens is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September. This is a long-term opportunity with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate. Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am - 3:30pm (30-minute unpaid lunch break) Hourly Rate: £14.25 - £16.77 per hour The successful candidate will provide one-to-one support for a Key Stage 1 pupil who is displaying social, emotional, and behavioural needs and is currently undergoing assessment for Autism. The pupil can experience difficulties with emotional regulation, which may occasionally lead to challenging behaviour both inside and outside the classroom. Your role will involve building a positive relationship with the child, supporting them throughout the school day, and using effective strategies to help reduce incidents and encourage positive engagement in learning. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider school staff to identify triggers, implement tailored support plans, and create a consistent approach that helps the pupil feel safe, supported, and able to succeed. Applicants should have: • A minimum Level 2 qualification in a relevant area, such as Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, Health and Social Care, or a related field. • Previous experience supporting children with behavioural, social, emotional, or additional learning needs. • Confidence in managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner. • A Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
