Hays are delighted to be supporting one of our key clients with an exciting opportunity for a motivated Building Manager to play a pivotal role within a large and complex multi-site estate, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and an outstanding customer experience for building users. You will join a forward-thinking Estates and Facilities team where you will act as a key point of contact for building operations, working closely with stakeholders, contractors, and facilities teams to maintain safe, efficient, and high-performing environments. This role offers the chance to influence service standards, lead people, and contribute to the successful operation of a diverse property portfolio. Your new role As Building Manager you will support the delivery of high-quality facilities management services across designated building assets while maintaining oversight of day-to-day operational activities. Acting as the primary contact for building-related matters, you will coordinate responses to issues and emergencies, ensuring swift escalation and resolution where required. Key responsibilities will include: • Managing, organising, and supervising Facilities Supervisors and Facilities Assistants. • Acting as a key liaison for building users and attending stakeholder meetings and operational forums. • Overseeing facilities management service delivery to ensure high standards, operational effectiveness, and statutory compliance. • Managing contractor activities, ensuring inductions, safe systems of work, and policy compliance are maintained. • Overseeing documentation including risk assessments, permits to work, and emergency procedures. • Working closely with helpdesk and estates teams to ensure repairs, maintenance activities, and service requests are effectively managed and escalated when necessary. • Monitoring outstanding maintenance tasks and driving timely resolution. • Acting as a lead contact for health and safety matters, identifying risks and escalating compliance concerns appropriately. • Supporting building moves, refurbishment projects, workspace changes, and estate improvement initiatives. • Conducting regular building inspections and audits to ensure facilities remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. • Supporting operational activities across multiple sites and locations when required. This is an ideal opportunity for a facilities professional who enjoys combining operational management, stakeholder engagement, compliance oversight, and team leadership within a dynamic environment. What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will bring: • Significant experience in a managerial or operational facilities management role within a large, multi-site organisation, or have strong facilities management experience and be looking to progress into a supervisory/managerial role. • Proven experience leading, motivating, and developing facilities teams. • Strong knowledge of building operations, maintenance processes, and property infrastructure. • A sound understanding of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements. • Experience managing contractors and overseeing safe systems of work. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands. • A resilient, adaptable, and customer-focused approach. • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across departments. • Good IT literacy, including Microsoft Office, helpdesk systems, and building management software. • Experience working collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. A NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification would also be desirable, but is not essential. What you'll get in return In return, you'll have the opportunity to join a respected Estates and Facilities function where your expertise will directly contribute to the successful management of a large and complex estate. You'll benefit from a varied and rewarding position with significant operational responsibility, and the opportunity to lead and develop facilities teams. You will also receive a basic salary of between £35,000 - £38,000 per annum, plus other benefits including 32 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, enhanced sick pay, a comprehensive pension scheme, and more.
