Our client is a leading global supplier of advanced sealing solutions and is seeking to recruit a Materials / Polymer / silicon Scientist with experience in business development / technical sales. The successful candidate will combine a technical understanding of polymer materials with the commercial skills required to identify new business opportunities, build customer relationships, and drive sales growth
Role Purpose
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for growing and maintaining business by managing existing customer relationships and developing new sales opportunities. The role covers the full customer lifecycle, from initial sales through to payment collection, while focusing on generating profitable business within assigned markets, territories, customer accounts, or industry sectors.
Key Responsibilities
• Meet sales revenue and profit margin targets.
• Maintain and grow existing customer accounts while securing new business opportunities.
• Develop strategic account plans and manage customer relationships throughout the sales cycle, including cash collection.
• Implement pricing strategies and support the Product Manager with sales strategy execution.
• Work closely with Customer Service to ensure high customer satisfaction.
• Provide market intelligence and customer insights to support business growth.
• Lead business development projects and drive profitable growth.
Education & Experience
• Degree or equivalent preferred, ideally with a Mechanical Engineering qualification or relevant industry experience.
• Experience in a target-driven sales environment.
• Good knowledge of silicone rubber materials and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and quality management processes.

Travel
• Frequent travel across the UK.
• Occasional travel within Europe, to manufacturing sites, and internationally for meetings, training, and professional development.
Salary: 60-65K Plus bonus and company car.
