Campus Services Location: Aston University Main Campus Salary: £35,740 to £38,708 per annum Grade: Campus Safety Officer G06 from May 2020 Contract Type: Permanent Basis: Full Time Closing Date: 23.59 hours BST on Friday 31 July 2026 Interview Date: Tuesday 18 August 2026 Reference: 0848-26 Release Date: Friday 17 July 2026 Aston University is seeking professional, customer-focused and proactive individuals to join our Campus Safety Team as Campus Safety Officers. Based in the heart of Birmingham, Aston University is a vibrant and diverse community. Our Campus Safety Team plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, security and wellbeing of students, staff and visitors 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As a Campus Safety Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure campus environment through a combination of customer service, security patrols, incident response and emergency support. Please note, this role is 5 days onsite and a night shift allowance is offered. Key duties include: Conducting foot and vehicle patrols across campus. Responding to incidents, emergencies and welfare concerns. Monitoring CCTV, access control and alarm systems. Supporting students, staff and visitors with safety-related enquiries. Managing access to buildings and enforcing University policies. Recording incidents and maintaining accurate reports. Working closely with emergency services and internal stakeholders. Assisting major events, open days and graduation ceremonies. We are looking for individuals who: Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Can remain calm and professional under pressure. Demonstrate sound judgement and strong problem-solving abilities. Are committed to delivering outstanding customer service. Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Possess good IT and report-writing skills. Previous experience in security, policing, military service, customer service or a similar operational environment is desirable but not essential.
