We are partnering with a variety of established children's residential homes across the Southampton region. Whether you are looking to gain experience in different settings, secure stable block-bookings, or simply pick up shifts that fit around your life-this is care work on your terms.
What You'll Be DoingNo two days are the same, but your mission remains constant: creating a safe, empowering environment for children and young people with complex needs and emotional behavioural difficulties (EBD).
• Be a Stabilising Force: Help build a secure, welcoming environment where young people feel safe and heard.
• Champion Independence: Mentor residents through daily routines and coach them on essential life skills.
• Lead with Empathy: Diffuse challenging situations using calm, trauma-informed, and professional de-escalation techniques.
• Deliver Holistic Support: Follow tailored care plans to ensure top-tier safeguarding and emotional wellbeing.
Shift Patterns Built Around Your LifeWe don't believe in one-size-fits-all schedules. Pick the shifts that actually work for you:
• Day Shifts: Fuel their potential through education, therapeutic activities, and daytime routines.
• Long Days + Sleep-ins: Provide seamless daytime care paired with overnight sleep-in support.
• Waking Nights: Keep watch, ensuring safety and a peaceful environment through the night.
• Block Bookings: Want more routine? Lock in consistent, ongoing shifts within a single home.
What We're Looking For
• The Right Experience: You must have proven experience working with children and young people with complex needs/challenging behaviours within a formal residential care environment.
• The Wheels: A full UK Driving Licence and access to a reliable vehicle is required to reach various services across the Southampton area.
The Perks
• Weekly Holiday Accrual: Earn holiday pay as you work, so you're covered when it's time to unplug.
• Pension Scheme: Access to a workplace pension to help you plan for the future.
• Your Own Advocate: A dedicated Randstad consultant who gets to know your preferences, fights for the shifts you want, and handles the logistics.
