Community Safety Business Support Officer • Hourly Rate: £17.83 per hour PAYE or £23.17 per hour Umbrella • Location: Barking, 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home • Duration: 3 months initially with view for extension thereafter We are currently recruiting for a Community Safety Business Support Officer on behalf of our public sector client. This is a key role within the Enforcement Service, supporting the delivery of vital community safety functions by providing high-quality administrative, financial, and operational support. You will play an important part in ensuring the smooth running of the service while helping colleagues, partners, and residents access timely and effective support. About the Role Reporting to the Community Safety Manager, you will provide a comprehensive business support service across the Community Safety team, acting as a first point of contact for enquiries from residents, Council services, and external agencies. You will be responsible for a wide range of duties including financial administration, processing invoices and purchase orders, coordinating staff onboarding, managing access and security systems, supporting meetings and maintaining accurate records. This role requires someone with excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the confidence to handle enquiries professionally and diplomatically. Key Responsibilities • Act as the first point of contact for Community Safety enquiries, providing accurate information and advice to residents, colleagues, and partner organisations. • Provide comprehensive administrative support to Community Safety Managers and senior officers. • Process invoices, purchase orders, payment requests, and procurement documentation accurately and efficiently. • Monitor and maintain financial records, ensuring compliance with Council procedures. • Coordinate onboarding and induction arrangements for new employees. • Liaise with IT services to arrange equipment, system access, security passes, and staff accounts. • Process and administer security ID card requests for staff and external customers. • Maintain accurate records and support service performance monitoring. • Coordinate meetings, forums, and working groups, including preparing agendas and taking minutes. • Manage correspondence, complaints tracking systems, and response monitoring processes. • Monitor office supplies and arrange orders when required. • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the effective delivery of Community Safety services.
