Job description
The post holder will be expected to share responsibility for the delivery of high-quality care to the patients presenting to the ED and the following:
* To have oversight of all team activity during their clinical session and provide support to other team members as needed.
* Demonstrate excellence in patient care.
* To provide appropriate supervision to doctors in training, locally employed doctors and other clinical practitioners.
* Administrative duties related to patient care.
* Contribution to undergraduate, post-graduate and continuing medical education activity, including AHPs as part of the multidisciplinary team.
* Regular participation in departmental meetings.
* Consultants are encouraged and supported with research audit and QI projects.
* Appropriate evening and weekend on-call commitments.
* To examine and treat patients in the ED.
* To support the clinical decision making of all medical and nursing clinicians within the Department.
* To provide on call support out of hours as agreed in the job plan.
* To attend the Department out of hours as per the agreed job plan.
* To remain contactable and available when on call.
* Provide consultant leadership for trauma calls and the management of critically ill/injured patients in QEHB role as Major Trauma Centre.
* Participate in the Trust Major Incident and Mass Casualty arrangements, including attendance during declared incidents and participation in training/simulation exercises.
