Assistant Lawyer / Solicitor – Regulatory & Health & Safety ?? Manchester ?? Salary: Competitive – discussed at application stage About the Role: We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Lawyer / Solicitor to join our specialist regulatory team in Manchester. Working closely with Partners David Rainey and Nick Gianferrari, you’ll play a key role in handling complex health & safety, regulatory, and inquest matters—often from the very outset of an incident through to resolution. Why Join Us? • Work alongside highly respected Partners on complex, high-profile cases • Gain hands-on experience from day one • Build expertise in a specialist and growing area of law • Be part of a supportive, team-oriented culture • Opportunity to develop client relationships through training and mentoring deliver What You’ll Be Doing In this varied and hands-on role, you will: • Analyse prosecution evidence and assess its implications for clients • Draft witness statements and review client evidence • Collate, organise, and summarise case materials for senior lawyers • Liaise with courts, coroners, regulators (HSE, CQC, Police) and external experts • Prepare and serve defence case statements, sentencing and mitigation bundles • Draft submissions and support case strategy development • Attend interviews under caution, inquests, and trials alongside Counsel • Conduct legal and regulatory research (including HSE guidelines) • Review medical records, post-mortem reports, transcripts and CCTV evidence • Coordinate meetings, site visits, and expert appointments • Support clients sensitively in often challenging and high-pressure situations What we're looking for • ? A qualified Solicitor with at least 1 year’s experience in: • Health & Safety / Regulatory law • Criminal law • Inquests (ideally within care home or similar settings) • ? Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities • ? Detail-focused and confident working with case management systems • ? A strong communicator, able to build rapport with clients and stakeholders at all levels • ? Calm, resilient and professional under pressure • ? A collaborative team player with a proactive, flexible approach • ? Sensitive and empathetic in dealing with clients facing difficult circumstances • ? Confident in your written work, research, and IT skills ??
