Job description

• To be a role model for nursing staff by ensuring good and safe practice at all times. • Promote and facilitate a patient centred approach to care, to set monitor and maintain standards of nursing care. • Deliver care in keeping with the needs and wishes of patients and their families • To maintain clinical credibility through best practice. To utilise the findings of nursing research to optimise high quality evidence based care and to disseminate relevant information to staff. • Review, develop and initiate practice development and protocol according to patient needs. • Provide specialist information, advice, support and education to both patients and carers with regards to patients treatment • Liaise with other health care professionals regarding the needs of patients and implement appropriate action. • To provide specialist information, advice, support and education to both patients and carers with regards to patients treatment. • Apply and evaluate research and development findings in nursing practice to improve the standards of care delivered. • Act as a link nurse for specific aspects of clinical practice in accordance with needs of the department and personal special interests. • To be accountable for own professional practice and responsible for acquiring, developing and maintaining competencies and skills. • In an emergency situation the nurse will be required to respond speedily and swiftly for the patient well-being.
