About the RoleTradewind Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of an outstanding secondary school in Sunderland, seeking a talented and enthusiastic Design & Technology Teacher to join their successful department from September 2026.
This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a high-achieving and supportive school renowned for its excellent standards, strong leadership, and commitment to student success. The successful candidate will teach Design & Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging and innovative lessons that inspire students to develop practical skills, creativity, and confidence.

Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver engaging Design & Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Assess, monitor, and support student progress
• Create a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
• Ensure all practical activities are delivered safely and in line with workshop health and safety requirements
• Contribute positively to the wider school community

Requirements
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience teaching Design & Technology within a UK secondary school
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Confidence delivering both practical and theory-based lessons
• Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for Design & Technology
• Knowledge of workshop health and safety regulations
• Two professional references covering the last two years
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• A proactive, reliable, and adaptable approach to teaching
