Job description

Dispute Resolution Solicitor | Property Litigation | Commercial Litigation York | Hybrid Working | NQ–4 Years PQE | £38,000–£58,000 DOE Do you enjoy the variety that litigation brings, or are you finding yourself becoming increasingly pigeonholed? Some dispute resolution teams specialise early. Others offer the opportunity to build genuine breadth across a wide range of contentious work while still developing your own areas of expertise. QED Legal's client is looking to appoint a Dispute Resolution Solicitor to join its growing York office. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who enjoys high-quality litigation and wants exposure to a varied caseload spanning property litigation, commercial disputes, contentious probate and wider civil litigation. Working closely with an experienced disputes team, you'll manage your own files while collaborating on more complex and high-value matters for businesses, landed estates, commercial property owners and private individuals. The emphasis is on providing practical, commercially focused advice and achieving the right outcome for clients, whether through negotiation, mediation or court proceedings. You'll be involved in: • Managing a varied caseload of Dispute Resolution and Civil Litigation matters from instruction through to conclusion. • Advising clients on Property Litigation, Commercial Litigation and Contentious Probate matters. • Handling disputes involving landlord and tenant issues, commercial leases, dilapidations, possession claims, easements, restrictive covenants and agricultural land. • Advising on contractual disputes, professional negligence claims and wider commercial litigation matters. • Managing inheritance disputes, will challenges, trust disputes and Inheritance Act claims. • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, settlement agreements and court documentation. • Representing clients through negotiation, mediation, alternative dispute resolution and litigation where appropriate. • Building lasting relationships with clients and professional referrers while contributing to the continued growth of the department. To be considered, you'll ideally have: • Qualified Solicitor (NQ–4 years PQE). • Experience in Dispute Resolution, Litigation, Civil Litigation, Property Litigation or Commercial Litigation. • Exposure to Contentious Probate would be advantageous but is not essential. • Excellent drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills. • Strong commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to resolving disputes. • The ability to manage your own caseload while working collaboratively within a supportive team. • A genuine interest in developing long-term client relationships and progressing your career within litigation. Whether your experience has centred on Property Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Civil Disputes or a broader mixed litigation caseload, this role offers the opportunity to continue developing your technical expertise while working on a diverse range of quality instructions. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and ambitious team that values technical excellence, encourages professional development and offers genuine scope to shape your career as the department continues to grow. Salary: £38,000–£58,000 DOE, together with hybrid working, excellent long-term career prospects and a comprehensive benefits package.
