DT Technician - Secondary School - Hillingdon - September 2026 Start - Full-Time Are you a practical, organised individual with a passion for Design and Technology? Do you enjoy working in a hands-on environment and supporting students and teachers to deliver engaging, practical lessons? Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and well-resourced secondary school in Hillingdon seeking to appoint a proactive and reliable DT Technician from September 2026. This full-time role is ideal for someone with experience in Design and Technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or a school technician role who is committed to supporting high-quality teaching and learning. This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful DT department, providing technical support across a range of disciplines while helping students develop valuable practical skills in a safe and inspiring learning environment. The RoleAs a DT Technician, you will support the Design and Technology department by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring practical lessons run smoothly and safely. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: • Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for practical Design and Technology lessons. • Providing technical support across specialist areas such as Resistant Materials, Product Design, Engineering, Graphics, and Construction. • Maintaining, servicing, and organising workshop machinery, tools, and equipment. • Ensuring all machinery and equipment are safe, compliant, and ready for use. • Supporting teachers and students during practical lessons where required. • Monitoring stock levels and ordering materials and equipment. • Maintaining an organised, clean, and safe workshop environment. • Carrying out regular health and safety checks and risk assessments. • Ensuring compliance with COSHH regulations and health and safety procedures. • Assisting with the creation of prototypes, displays, and project resources. • Supporting wider departmental administration where required. You should have: • Previous experience working as a DT Technician or within a Design and Technology, engineering, manufacturing, construction, or workshop environment. • Knowledge of workshop tools, machinery, and safe working practices. • A good understanding of health and safety procedures, including COSHH. • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. • The ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks effectively. • Strong communication and teamwork skills. • Confidence supporting both staff and students during practical activities. • Good IT skills for stock management and departmental administration. • A proactive and flexible approach to work.
