EAA (Exams Access Arrangements) Assessor – Temp – Broxbourne Location: Broxbourne Contract: Temporary, hourly paid Rate of Pay: £29.95 per hour including holiday pay Hours: 1 day per week, term time only with peak workload during EAA assessment windows (usually autumn–spring). Duration: September 2026 – June 2027 Department: Learning Support / Inclusive Learning Reporting to: Learning Support Manager Role & Responsibilities Herts Resourcing Group are recruiting on behalf of HRC for a temporary EAA Assessor to support learners in accessing fair and evidence-based exam arrangements. In this role, you will: Assess students in Further Education for Exam Access Arrangements (EAAs) in line with the JCQ regulations, ensuring that learners with additional needs receive appropriate, evidence-based support. The role includes administering assessments and working with ALS Admin staff who supply available evidence from teachers, LSAs and previous schools to support reasonable adjustments for exams. Key Responsibilities 1. Assessment & Evidence Gathering Conduct assessments using appropriate standardised tests in line with JCQ requirements (e.g., reading accuracy, reading speed, writing speed, processing assessments). Book EAA referrals for assessments. Collect a full range of evidence including: -history of need -normal way of working -teacher observations -specialist assessment results -student interview Ensure all assessments meet JCQ regulations for Form 8 completion. 2. Documentation & Compliance Complete and maintain accurate Form 8, Form 8RF, Form 9, and supporting records. Upload evidence so that ALS Admin can apply for access arrangements via the JCQ Access Arrangements Online (AAO) portal. Ensure all documentation is audit-ready and compliant with JCQ inspection requirements. Keep up to date with changes to JCQ regulations and FE sector guidance. 3. Delivery of Support Recommend appropriate EAAs (e.g., reader, scribe, extra time, rest breaks, word processor, prompt, modified papers). Ensure arrangements reflect the learner’s normal way of working and are evidence-based. Work with ALS Support Team Lead to embed agreed adjustments in classroom practice. 4. Collaboration & Communication Liaise with ALS Admin team, and external agencies. Offer guidance to staff on JCQ regulations and identifying potential EAA needs. Attend meetings, student reviews, and case discussions as required Communicate assessment outcomes clearly to students and parents/carers where appropriate. 5. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement Maintain confidentiality and uphold GDPR requirements. Contribute to internal processes, audits, and quality reviews within learning support. Participate in CPD to maintain specialist assessor status (e.g., annual updates, JCQ training). This role offers flexibility in working days and provides an excellent opportunity to make a tangible difference for learners with additional needs. About You We are looking for a highly organised, knowledgeable specialist assessor with: Essential Qualifications Level 7 specialist qualification conferring SASC-recognised assessor status (e.g., PGCert SpLD, ATS/AMBDA, or equivalent). Up-to-date knowledge of JCQ regulations. Evidence of ongoing CPD in specialist assessment. Essential Experience Experience conducting assessments for exam access arrangements. Experience working with students aged 14+ or in FE settings. Ability to interpret assessment data and create accurate reports. Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) and other SEND profiles. High level of accuracy in record-keeping and documentation. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage a caseload efficiently. Strong ICT skills (e.g., AAO, assistive tech, assessment software).
