Job description

Newly Qualified Employment Solicitor • Location: Canary Wharf • Job Type: Full-time, 100% office-based • Working Hours: 09:00 AM - 6:00 PM We are seeking a Newly Qualified Employment Solicitor to join the Employment team of a niche firm specialising in employment and discrimination law. This role is based in the heart of London and offers no parking facilities. It involves dealing primarily with Senior Executive level employees and managing a high caseload of litigated cases. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and commercially minded solicitor to develop their career within a supportive and dynamic environment. The successful candidate will assist with a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, providing practical legal advice to clients while developing strong technical and client management skills. Day-to-day of the role: • Advise clients on a wide range of employment law matters, including disciplinary and grievance procedures, absence management, performance management, redundancies, restructuring, and termination of employment. • Support senior lawyers in managing Employment Tribunal claims from inception through to resolution. • Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related documentation, including employment contracts, settlement agreements, staff handbooks, policies, and procedures. • Conduct legal research and provide commercially focused advice on employment legislation and case law developments. • Assist with TUPE transfers, business reorganisations, and employment aspects of corporate transactions. • Manage a varied caseload under supervision, ensuring compliance with service standards and deadlines. • Attend client meetings, hearings, mediations, and employment tribunals where appropriate. • Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and responsiveness. • Prepare briefing notes, employment updates, and client training materials. • Support business development initiatives, networking activities, and marketing events. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales. • Strong understanding of UK employment legislation and Employment Tribunal procedures. • Excellent legal research, drafting, and analytical skills. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure. • Commercial awareness and a practical approach to problem-solving. • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. • Demonstrated experience in handling TUPE cases and providing advice on related matters. • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships, ideally with experience in an in-house legal team environment.
