Cleaner Supervisor
Location: Croydon, London (SE19)
Pay Rate: From £16.50 per hour
Shift: Monday - Friday
Hours: 3:00pm - 7:00pm
Contract: Temporary (week-to-week)
About the Role
HRGO Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Cleaner Supervisor to work within a busy education setting in the Croydon (SE19) area.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a cleaning team and ensuring that all areas of the site are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Team Management
• Lead and supervise a team of cleaning staff
• Allocate daily duties and manage work schedules
• Monitor staff attendance and performance
• Train and support new and existing team members
Cleaning Standards & Quality Control
• Ensure all areas (classrooms, offices, corridors, toilets, and communal spaces) are cleaned thoroughly
• Conduct regular inspections to maintain high standards
• Ensure compliance with hygiene and cleaning procedures
Health & Safety
• Ensure adherence to COSHH regulations and correct use of PPE
• Report any hazards, accidents, or maintenance issues
• Ensure safe handling, use, and storage of cleaning chemicals
Stock & Equipment Management
• Monitor and manage cleaning supplies
• Reorder stock when required
• Ensure all equipment is maintained and used correctly
Communication & Reporting
• Liaise with the Facilities or Site Manager
• Handle cleaning-related queries or requests from staff and students
• Maintain records such as attendance, cleaning logs, and audits
Hands-On Cleaning
• Support the team with cleaning duties when needed
• Provide cover in the event of staff shortages
Skills & Experience Required
• Previous cleaning experience (essential)
• Supervisory experience (preferred)
• Strong leadership and organisational skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and chemicals
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work independently and solve problems
Requirements:
• Enhanced DBS (issued within the last 12 months or registered on the DBS Update Service)
• Understanding of health & safety practices
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills
