Job description

Surrey | £35,000 + benefits A specialist facilities management contractor is looking for a hands-on Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to lead operational delivery across a high-profile, multi-site contract covering the Surrey patch. This is a role for someone who leads from the front — an experienced grounds professional who knows the work inside out and can get the best out of a team on the ground. Reporting to the Contract Manager, you'll take day-to-day ownership of team performance, site quality, and client relationships across your patch, setting the standard every day and rolling your sleeves up alongside the team when it counts. What you'll do • Lead, motivate and develop a team of grounds operatives across the Surrey patch, driving consistent quality and presentation on every site • Set the benchmark for grounds standards, productivity, site presentation, and health & safety — and hold the team to it • Work alongside your operatives on the ground when needed, leading by example through busy periods and peak season • Own the day-to-day client relationships on site, resolving issues quickly, professionally, and before they escalate • Carry out regular site inspections and quality checks, making sure every visit meets schedule and specification • Performance-manage your team directly, tackling underperformance constructively and getting people back on track • Support the Contract Manager with scheduling, resourcing, and operational reporting What you'll bring Essential: • Solid grounds maintenance experience — you understand the work, the seasons, and what "good" looks like on site • Proven people management: confident leading, motivating, and holding a team to account • Full UK driving licence Highly valued: • Experience managing client or customer relationships on site • A genuine lead-by-example approach — first to muck in, first to set the standard • Well organised and reliable, with the confidence to drive high standards across multiple sites Location & package • Based in Surrey, with travel across sites within the patch • £35,000 salary + benefits • Reporting to the Contract Manager for the account •
