Job Title: Finance & Income Officer Location: Ealing, W5 2HL - Hybrid working (3 days office / 2 days remote) Hourly rate £23.05 PAYE / £30.09 Umbrella per hour Contract Length: 3-month contract (possibility of extension) Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 35 hours ASAP Start About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance & Income Officer to join a busy public-sector housing finance team. You will play a key role in supporting income and expenditure activity across temporary accommodation and housing services, ensuring accurate financial records, compliant processing, and effective financial control in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment. This role is ideal for a finance professional with strong local authority or housing experience who enjoys working collaboratively across finance, housing, and supplier teams. Key Responsibilities Income & Expenditure Support • Provide hands-on support for income and expenditure activity within a local authority or public sector housing environment, ensuring financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled. • Maintain robust financial records, ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies, and agreed deadlines. • Support account reconciliations, month-end and year-end processes, and investigate variances to ensure financial integrity across housing and temporary accommodation accounts. Purchase-to-Pay & Supplier Management • Process supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payment in line with financial procedures. • Raise purchase orders and requisitions, supporting budget holders to ensure correct coding, authorisation, and audit trails. • Assist with accruals, payments, and financial adjustments, working closely with central finance teams to meet reporting deadlines. • Liaise confidently with suppliers, internal budget holders, and corporate finance colleagues to resolve invoice queries and discrepancies promptly and professionally. Financial Systems, Reporting & Administration • Use corporate finance systems (including Business World / Unit4) to track expenditure, maintain accurate records, and support financial reporting. • Apply strong MS Excel skills to maintain spreadsheets, produce basic financial reports, monitor budgets, and support reconciliation activity. • Operate effectively in a high-volume financial environment, maintaining attention to detail while meeting competing priorities. • Maintain clear audit trails and financial documentation to support internal and external audit requirements. About You You will bring: • Proven experience working in a local authority or public sector finance or housing environment, supporting income and expenditure activity. • Demonstrable experience with supplier invoice processing, purchase orders, requisitions, accruals, and payments. • Confidence liaising with a wide range of stakeholders, including suppliers, budget holders, housing teams, and central finance. • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel and experience using corporate finance systems such as Business World (Unit4). • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced setting.
