Financial ControllerSalary: Up to £75,000 Location: Hybrid working - 2 days per week onsite Contract: Permanent, Full-Time The OpportunityA well-established and values-led organisation is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to play a key role in leading its financial control, reporting and treasury functions. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this is a senior leadership position with responsibility for ensuring robust financial controls, high-quality financial reporting, effective treasury management and compliance across a complex operating environment. The successful candidate will lead a number of finance teams, oversee month-end and year-end reporting activities, support strategic planning and budgeting processes, and provide financial insight to senior stakeholders across the organisation. This role offers an excellent opportunity for either an existing Financial Controller or a technically strong Finance Manager, Financial Accounting Manager or Senior Finance Manager looking to take the next step in their career. Key Responsibilities • Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. • Produce management accounts to a year-end standard, including balance sheet, cash flow and income statement reporting. • Manage treasury activities, banking relationships and cash flow forecasting. • Deliver insightful financial analysis and commentary to support decision-making. • Oversee statutory reporting, regulatory submissions and external audit processes. • Maintain a robust financial control environment and drive continuous improvement initiatives. • Partner with senior finance leaders on annual budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning. • Lead and develop a number of finance teams covering financial accounting, management accounting and transactional finance functions. • Ensure strong governance, compliance and adherence to financial policies and procedures. • Support organisation-wide projects and strategic initiatives. About YouWe're looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a strong technical accounting background and demonstrable experience in financial reporting and controls. You will ideally bring: • Experience leading month-end and year-end close processes. • Strong management accounting and financial reporting expertise. • Treasury and cash flow forecasting experience. • A track record of managing and developing finance teams. • Experience working within a complex organisation with multiple stakeholders. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insight. • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. • Experience managing audits, compliance requirements and regulatory reporting. Desirable Experience • Experience within Public Sector, Not-for-Profit, Education or another complex and regulated environment. • Exposure to long-term financial planning, funding models and regulatory returns. • Experience driving process improvement and strengthening financial controls.
