Fish and chip shop assistant

Overview We are seeking a friendly and efficient Fish and Chip Shop Assistant to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food service, with a keen interest in culinary preparation and customer interaction. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced environment, ensuring customers enjoy an authentic fish and chip experience. Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. This position is paid and suitable for those looking to develop their skills within the hospitality sector. Duties • Serve customers at the counter, taking orders accurately and efficiently • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area, including kitchen surfaces. • Handle cash transactions, operate the till, and provide correct change • Upsell additional menu items to maximise sales opportunities • Ensure food safety standards are adhered to at all times • Assist with stock rotation and inventory checks to ensure freshness of ingredients • Provide friendly and attentive service to all customers, creating a welcoming atmosphere • Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operations Requirements • Previous experience in food preparation or restaurant service is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided • Knowledge of food safety regulations and hygiene standards is desirable • Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail • Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanour when interacting with customers • Willingness to learn new skills related to culinary preparation and customer service • Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends if required This role offers an engaging environment where you can develop your hospitality skills while providing excellent service.
