Front of House Assistant

We are looking for a friendly and reliable Front of House Assistant to join our team on a full-time or part-time basis. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service in a busy restaurant environment. As a Front of House Assistant, you will be responsible for welcoming customers, taking orders, serving food and drinks, preparing a range of hot beverages including barista-style coffees, and ensuring every guest has an enjoyable dining experience. You will work closely with both the front of house and kitchen teams to provide efficient service while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene, and customer care. Previous experience in hospitality and barista coffee preparation is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities • Welcome customers in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner. • Take food and drink orders accurately and communicate them clearly to the kitchen team. • Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages, including espresso-based coffees, teas, and other specialty drinks, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation. • Operate and maintain the coffee machine, ensuring it is cleaned and stocked throughout the day. • Serve food and beverages promptly while maintaining excellent presentation and service standards. • Set up and clear tables, ensuring the dining area remains clean, tidy, and welcoming. • Assist customers with menu choices and provide recommendations when required. • Handle customer enquiries and resolve any concerns politely and professionally. • Process customer payments accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system. • Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and company procedures at all times. • Work closely with colleagues to ensure smooth and efficient service during busy periods. • Restock service areas, maintain a clean workstation, and assist with opening and closing duties as required. • Support the team in creating a positive dining experience by delivering excellent customer service at all times. Skills and Experience • Previous experience in a front of house, hospitality, café, or restaurant environment is preferred. • Barista experience and the ability to prepare a range of coffee beverages using a commercial espresso machine is desirable. • Excellent customer service and communication skills. • Friendly, reliable, and well-presented with a positive attitude. • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team. • Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required. • A good understanding of food hygiene and health and safety practices. Pay: £12.71-£13.00 per hour Work Location: In person
