Job description

Garden Centre Horticultural Manager £38,000–£42,000 + Bonus & Benefits Chester area Picture this: it's a warm July morning. The summer garden is in full bloom. Customers are looking for the perfect plants to keep their borders bursting with colour, refresh their containers, or start planning for the seasons ahead. The plant area is alive with inspiration, advice, and enthusiastic gardeners making the most of the growing season. There's nowhere better to be. The Person We're looking for a Horticultural Manager who thrives in this environment. You're passionate about plants and love sharing your knowledge with both customers and colleagues. You enjoy helping people create beautiful gardens while taking equal pride in developing a team that delivers exceptional standards. Helping others grow is just as rewarding as nurturing great plants. The Role This is a hands-on leadership opportunity where you'll take ownership of a thriving plant department. With the support of an experienced business behind you, you'll shape the product range, maintain outstanding retail standards, and lead your team through every season of the gardening calendar. Your responsibilities will include: • Selecting and merchandising high-quality plants from trusted growers • Leading, coaching and developing a small, enthusiastic team • Maintaining exceptional standards of plant care and presentation • Delivering knowledgeable, inspiring customer service • Driving commercial performance through effective seasonal planning and stock management In return, you'll receive a competitive salary, bonus potential, and a benefits package, alongside sociable working hours. Weekend working is part of the role, but you'll enjoy every other weekend off—giving you time to enjoy your own garden too. The Company You'll be joining a well-established and growing UK garden centre business with a strong reputation for quality and customer service. Financially secure and committed to investing in its people, the business continues to invest in its future and offers genuine opportunities for career progression. They're looking for someone who is: • Passionate about horticulture • A confident people leader • Commercially aware with strong retail instincts • Customer-focused and committed to high standards • Looking to build a long-term career within a successful business If you're ready to lead a busy plant department, inspire a team, and help create an outstanding destination for gardeners throughout the year, we'd love to hear from you.
